Make way for Marièta, Gurgaon’s Latin-inspired bistro and bar

The latest entrant into Two Horizon Centre, this space is hot-of-the-equator.

From the team who brought you Delhi’s beloved Dear Donna and Bohca comes Marièta, a Latin-inspired premium bistro and bar.

While the neighbourhood has no dearth of restaurants, nightlife venues, and focused cocktail bars, “What we’re bringing unique to Marièta is not just unique to Gurgaon, it’s unique to Delhi NCR’s F&B culture. I see a lot of upmarket, high-tempo cocktail bars internationally, in London, in Dubai, but not so much here,” says Group Director Chaitanya Mathur.

Delivering on his hunch that Marièta is just what diners are looking for, Mathur’s vision for the new experience is to combine world-class ambience and vibe with great, restaurant quality food, served in a venue where the drinks are of equal calibre. Just as if they were crafted at a hyper-focused cocktail bar.

Trailblazing with tequila

“We are seeing a percentage of people who are moving to only tequila, or agave-based drinks,” says Mathur, “And, I think that trend is here to stay.”

Describing the popularity of drinks made with the agave plant like tequila and mezcal, Mathur’s newest restaurant, or experience rather, is rooted in its cocktail programme. Beyond featuring tequila and mezcal, the dedicated agave drink section on the menu showcases the team’s affinity for the region with Latin American ingredients and pop culture references.

Hand of God and Heat Check Picante

Take the ‘Hand of God,’ a liquid ode to the famous goal scored by Argentinian football player, Diego Maradona. A mix of tequila blanco and mezcal with a citrusy trio of lemongrass, yuzu, and lime; ideal for a hot summer night.

Mathur’s favourite cocktail on the menu? Marièta’s Picante, one of the few Picante cocktail renditions on the menu, this version spiced with chipotle peppers and seasoned with sumac is the new bar programme’s instant bestseller.

A diverse dining destination

Marièta offers tacos like pork belly and crunchy taco, along with house-made hot sauce

Continuing with their inspiration from the lively Latin spirit, the all-day menu at Marièta features more than a handful of taco options, including a crunchy tofu taco along with a pork belly option, both featuring a house-made hot sauce. We might just add the Hot Loaded Nachos to the order for a full-on tortilla and tequila party.

Latin American influences come to life in other parts of their menu like the Huevos Rancheros from their all-day brunch offerings or the Habanero Butter Shrimp from their small plates selection. However, the menu here features much more than what’s found south of the United States.

Taking cues from consumer trends, product development specialist Sukriti Chopra believes that the Indian diner values variety. Positioning it as the go-to destination at Two Horizon Centre, she shares, “It’s empowering to include food from all over the world. With our global menu, people can feel happy coming here to eat pasta, sushi, or great tacos!”

Presenting a global game with a Latin American soul

At Marièta they don’t just stop at the international food menu; their drinks list is just as diverse. Joining the agave-forward line-up are two other sections of their beverage menu featuring classic cocktails for those who stick to what they know, along with a signature drink list. Here, Latin American flavours and ingredients are shaken and stirred with other spirits.

Take the Paradiso for example, mixing aged rum and cinnamon spiced Campari with the bright flavours of pineapple and coconut orgeat for those with a tropical taste of mind. While Marièta’s Michelada, which blends fresh tomato juice with beer, is there for those who enjoy beer-based cocktails. And, for those who want that extra boozy boost, the drink can be topped with a shot of mezcal.

Whatever your mood or taste preference, the team at Marièta has got you covered.

“The idea should be if you’re in Gurgaon and you want to have a meal or a drink or you have a reason to celebrate something special, we want you to think of Marièta,” says Mathur.

Mathur concludes, “The aesthetic is premium and the pricing is not as luxurious as you would think. Affordable, some might say. But the experience is slightly more upmarket than what you would expect.”
