Imagine entering a vibrant blue and white space where on your right you see fresh pizzas being made and on your left, you see a display counter filled with baked goodies and desserts. On a rainy afternoon, we made our way to the newest spot in town – TwentySeven Pizza and Bakes and the food compensated for these Mumbai rains.
Located in Shakti Mills, Mahalaxmi, TwentySeven Pizza and Bakes is an extension of Aditi and Aditya Dugar’s TwentySeven Bakehouse in Bandra. Not only is TwentySeven Pizza and Bakes a new outlet but it is an expansion of their existing menu. The highlight? It’s in the same vicinity as their award-winning restaurant – Masque.
The new outlet has all our favourites from the Bandra outpost – the croissants, chilli cheese toast, Danish, bread loaves, cube croissants, and much more. But it is through their pizza menu that they are bringing a slice of New York to the bylanes of Mumbai. The pizza menu is created by International Pizza Consultant Anthony Falco. Known as the Pizza Czar, Falco has made different styles of pizza around the world and has completed successful projects in over a dozen countries.
The spread on the table
We started our meal with one of the greatest combinations to exist – bread, garlic, and butter – put together as garlic knots. They were a crowd favourite. One bite and our hands and mouth were messy with garlic-y butter. The first slice of pizza we had was the Fiamma – roasted onions with spring onion ricotta, tomatoes, pickled jalapeno, aged mozzarella, pecorino, pickled shallot, and toasted sourdough crumbs. The highlight of this pizza was the crumbs that added a nice texture.
You can’t go wrong with a classic cheese and TwentySeven Pizza and Bakes just proved that right. It was hands-down something we would come for again. Basil Pesto with Potato was a fun take to have as a pizza but for the first time, we didn’t enjoy potatoes because of their bland taste and soft-er texture. These pizzas came with four of their in-house sauces – chilli honey, buttermilk ranch, garlic butter, and marinara. While each of these sauces was good enough for us to buy bottles of, our favourite was a combination of chilli honey and garlic butter.
We also tried their baked goods such as the Spicy Mexican Sweet Corn Danish, and a Vada Pav Danish. While the flavours and taste didn’t surprise us for the former Danish, the vada pav version was a fun thing to try! We ended our meal with a dessert that we still dream of, even after a week, and have recommended it to friends and family as well. The choux pastry with vanilla soft serve with salted hot chocolate fudge was comforting and probably the best thing we have had recently.

All in all, Aditi and Aditya have outdone themselves yet again with their launch and we can see ourselves going back for their garlic knots, classic cheese pizza, and desserts! We just hope that they start pizzas in their Bandra outpost soon.
