New York’s iconic Magnolia Bakery has been the talk of the town ever since it opened its first store in Mumbai. Spread across 2,300 sq ft, this flagship store in Bandra West has a variety of baked goods and desserts such as brownies, cupcakes, tres leches, cheesecakes and their famous banana pudding.

Their Christmas special menu includes a classic plum cake loaf which is a combination of dry fruits soaked in rum, and spiced fresh fruit baked into a rich dense cake. For cupcake lovers, Magnolia offers their cute Christmas-themed cupcakes decorated as Santa Claus, snowman, snowflakes, a wreath and more. If you are a fan of their banana pudding, then opt for their red velvet banana pudding which comprises layers of vanilla pudding, bananas and red velvet cake.

Christmas Yule by SAZ American Brasserie

SAZ American Brasserie with its New Orleans jazz era vibe has two outlets in Mumbai, namely BKC and Lower Parel. Known for their flavourful food, they will also have a Christmas-themed menu this year. What we are looking forward to the most is the Winter Yule Log, which features a Christmas Swiss roll, vanilla diplomat cream, red wine ganache, Belgium speculoos ice cream, and a ginger tuille.

Homemade mulled wine by Chef Aditi Keni

This is the 11th year that chef Aditi Keni will be making her annual batch of mulled wine which is a 13% poof wine. This batch of wine is a 100-day ferment of the Pulpy Merlot variety of grape, which is grown in Nashik, Maharashtra. Keni’s mulled wine is simmered with spices and stone fruits sourced from single-origin farms across Kerala, Goa and Maharashtra and then steeped with a host of dried fruits and herbs. She packs the glass bottle in a sustainable bag, decorated with Christmas ornaments but she also accepts customised packaging and gifting options at an additional charge.

Marriott Bonvoy on Wheels by JW Marriott Mumbai Sahar is all set to ring in the festive time with its exquisite and artisanal Christmas goodies. Gallops, a classic restaurant is known for its elegant ambience, and this season, they are offering Christmas food in Mumbai. This Christmas, indulge in their feast which includes bacon-wrapped prawns, lobster thermidor, maple glazed ham, Christmas roast turkey, melanzane parmigiana, honey mustard roast chicken and many others. They also have classic options for desserts such as Christmas pudding, pecan pie, mulled wine and more.

Eggless plum cake by chef Marina Balakrishnan

Marina Balakrishnan is known for making vegetarian Kerala food. She has been making her annual Christmas cakes for the past four years and each year she changes the packaging of her cake. Her speciality is the eggless plum cake without any rum. Balakrishnan admits that even though she is not a baker, she has a passion for baking these cakes because her hometown, Thalassery, has a local bakery which is known to be the birthplace of plum cakes. In previous years, besides shipping her cake to India, she has also shipped it internationally. However, this year, she plans on scaling it down so that she can meet the demands easily. In 2015, baker Smita Saran started her home bakery with her partner called The Good Butter. They are known for their sourdoughs, biscuits and cookies, bread, pastries, brownies, butter and spreads, cereal and more. Their festival menu is just as elaborate with classic options such as boozy X’mas cake, classic stollen, gingerbread cookies, boozy fruit cake with vanilla cream, Belgian chocolate hazelnut stollen and many more.
